Abstract
The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of different number of doses of dilating eye drops administered to patients diagnosed with uncomplicated retinal detachment.  Patients selected for this study had normal iris; they no history of underlying diabetes mellitus, hypertension, or heart disease, and were admitted to ophthalmology wards.  The collected data consisted of their pupillary sizes measurements after administering one dose, two doses and three doses of dilating eye drops.  The standard for measuring the pupillary size was based on the Nurse Observation Form used at Siriraj Hospital.  The data were analyzed using Friedman test and Wilcoxon Signed ranks test.  There  were  30  patients recruited in this study.  Eighty percent of the  study group were male between 21-89  years old with the mean age of 50.4 years old.  The study was to compare the effectiveness of  different doses of dilatation eye drops which showed that after 60 minutes of  two-dose  regimen  the  pupils were equally dilated as  that treated with three doses  of  the dilating eye drop for 30  minutes.
